The master’s level in Shia Studies with a Theology specialization offers an opportunity to move from general religious knowledge to specialized and issue-oriented expertise in the scientific explanation and rational defense of the foundational doctrines of Shiism.

Shia Studies – Theology (Shia Studies – Theology)
Shia Studies – Theology, which focuses on the specialized study of the doctrinal, historical, and theological foundations of the Shiite school, serves as a bridge between the identity-historical understanding of Shiism and the systematic rational defense of its teachings. This program prepares students for the scientific explanation of Shiite beliefs and responding to contemporary theological objections.

Areas of Study: Study of Imamiyyah Kalam (Imami Theology), the issue of Imamate and Wilayah from both rational and transmitted perspectives, the history of Shiism and the Islamic sects and schools, Mahdism and Eschatology, and critique of doctrinal doubts and objections directed at the Shiite school.

Educational Objectives: Equipping students with methods of theological argumentation in defense of Shiite foundations, developing the ability to conduct comparative analysis among Islamic schools, and familiarizing them with emerging theological objections in order to scientifically explain and document Shiite teachings.

Applications and Job Market: Graduates of this program engage in research and explanatory activities in Shia Studies and Theology research centers, institutions for responding to doubts, promotional and cultural institutions inside and outside the country, religious media, and international centers for interfaith and inter-sect dialogue among Islamic denominations.
